Opus for Person-to-Person has announced that its annual spring fundraiser, “The Platinum Ball: Celebrating 20 years of Great Works” is to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton.

The elegant Opus gala, which supports the Norwalk and Darien-based Person-to-Person (P2P), promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Opus, a life-changing organization of women and charity, and will inaugurate the next 20 years of even greater works.

With the Wee Burn Beach Club shimmering sunset as the backdrop, the event calls for elegant cocktail attire. Guests will sip on Platinum Punch, enjoy a gourmet sit-down dinner, and enjoy unwinding with the nationally acclaimed band Sultans of Swing.

Seasoned golfers, or those new to the sport, can demonstrate their swing in a golf contest by-the-sea and all will enjoy an exciting raffle and live and silent auctions. Raffle and auction items will include indulgences such as luxury vacation packages, spa pampering, VIP sports experiences, entertaining couple and group adventures, and fine goods for one or many.

Board Liaison Jennifer Clemow with Co-Chairs Maggie Anderson, Doreen Godfrey, Bridget Moran, and Aidan Welsh, along with The Platinum Ball committee, have been hard at work since last summer planning an extraordinary night.

The spring gala is the largest Opus fundraiser of the year, and The Platinum Ball promises to be an evening not soon forgotten. Last spring, the sold-out Madras-themed gala at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien raised more than $130,000 for Person-to-Person.

“We are honored to be celebrating 20 years of great works for Opus and thrilled to be back at Wee Burn Beach Club for this event,” said Kristina Gregory one of the co-presidents this year overseeing the ball. “It’s a privilege to continue in the footsteps of our Opus founding members and former presidents, Katherine Michele and Julie Bauer, who built such a strong foundation for this outstanding volunteer organization.”

Proceeds from The Platinum Ball will help Opus begin their next 20 years with more services for more people, through Person-to-Person’s Emergency Assistance Program.

This program provides free, gently used clothing, groceries for nutritious meals and financial assistance for rent, security deposits and utility bills. Each year P2P serves more than 24,500 people from the seven towns of Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, New Canaan, Westport, Weston and Wilton.

Tickets to The Platinum Ball fundraiser will go on sale in early March 2016. Tickets will be available to Opus members and non-members, with a discount for members. Details on purchasing tickets and attending the event will be available on the Opus for Person-to-Person website: www.opus4p2p.org.

About Opus for Person-to-Person

This year, Opus celebrates 20 years of great works—the goal that inspired our name. What do we mean by “great works?” It’s fundraising and public awareness to help Person-to-Person assist more than 24,000 individuals.

Support for the Emergency Food Pantry, providing three meals a day for those in need, and the “store” where clients can shop for clothing and necessities.

It’s scholarship and camp programs to help children fulfill their promise. Also provided are Layettes for babies, a holiday toy store for families to fulfill their children’s wishes, emergency financial assistance when rent and utility checks can’t be written. Most of all, it’s the lives changed when we come together with a common purpose.
