Bicycles and scooters at Noroton Heights Railroad Station

Two mopeds were reported stolen within three days of each other last week, one on Monday at the Noroton Heights Railroad Station, the other on Wednesday at the Darien Railroad Station.

Darien police described each incident this way:

Noroton Heights Railroad Station

At about 6:50 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, the first victim drove his moped to the Noroton Heights station and parked it there. When he returned at 6:50 p.m., not only was the moped (which he valued at $1,000) gone, but so was a jacket (valued at $100) that was inside the saddle bag, along with a helmet (valued at $40).

The victim told police he still had the key to the vehicle, but that it wasn’t secured to anything at the station. He notified police at 6:56 p.m.

Darien Railroad Station

A woman told police that she road her moped to Darien Railroad Station and locked it in the bicycle area at about 4:40 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22.

When she returned at about 5 p.m., the moped was gone, along with her helmet and a weather covered. When she contacted police at 5:14 p.m., she did not immediately give a value for the stolen items.
