Dorothy Nepola, 92, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at her home in New Canaan. She was the cherished daughter of the late Souren Terzian and Seran Terzian (née Zakarian), and beloved wife of the late Salvatore Richard Nepola, DDS, all formerly of Darien. She was a devoted mother and gracious homemaker.
Dorothy attended Darien public schools. She received a B.S. in Music at Ithaca College, served as president of music sorority Sigma Alpha Iota, then taught music to disabled children in Buffalo, NY. She was a member of the Armenian Church, and chairwoman of the Armenian Students Association.
She served in the Noroton Presbyterian Church of Darien, and was chairwoman of the Woman’s Guild. While living in New Canaan, Dorothy volunteered for TACT. Dorothy was a concert pianist, avid watercolorist, and poet. She traveled widely – to Europe, Armenia, Asia, South America and the Caribbean.
The loving matriarch of her immediate family, Dorothy is survived by her children Noreen S. Christon, S. Richard Nepola, Nancy N. Fox (Randall), and Ninette Halpin (Mark); her grandchildren Tzaras R. Christon (Sarah) and Alexa Christon Clark (Michael); her great-grandchildren Caroline E. Christon, Souren T. Christon, Leonor A. Christen and “baby” Clark; her niece Virginia Butler and her great-niece Tamra L. Butler (Tye Conklin).
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
