“Once again Noroton has won a major team race regatta — the NYYC [New York Yacht Club] Grand Masters — widely regarded as the top Grand Masters team race in the country,” the Noroton Yacht Club announced Sunday on its Facebook timeline.
The announcement continues:
Noroton has won this regatta every year it has been run, which began in 2010.
Team Noroton:
- Past Commodore Lee Morrison (skipper, team captain), Susan Morrison, Bob Monro, Paul Steinborn
- Glenn Morrison (skipper), Scott Macleod, Past Commodore Jim Linville
- Steve Shepstone (skipper), TK, Britt Hall, Melissa Shepstone
This win follows on Noroton’s second consecutive win of the Hinman Masters team race last weekend, also hosted by NYYC.
“[E]ven after the age minimums were raised by five years and the event was expanded to 10 teams and three days to stiffen the competition, the yacht club from Darien, Conn., still out sailed every other club on the water,”he New York Yacht Club announced on its website.”

The NYYC Grandmasters Team Race Regatta was held in Narragansett Bay, using the New York Yacht Club’s fleet of 21 identical Sonar sailboats, with each one crewed by three or four sailors.
Although the Noroton team has always won the event, it wasn’t easy, according to the NYYC account — by the last day of the race, the top four teams were all within two points of each other.
The 10 teams in the race came from near and far, including Oyster Bay, N.Y., Annapolis, Md., New Orleans and Texas.
