Melinda Lee Young, age 73, of Sarasota, Florida, and a long-time resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on Oct. 17.

Melinda Young, 73, passed away on Oct. 17. Her funeral will be on Nov. 3.

Melinda was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Bayside, Queens, New York to Dr. Marcus Lee and Genevieve Lee. She was a graduate of Bayside High School and Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts.

Melinda worked for the Continental Can Company in New York City for a number of years, and for Dr. Kenneth Young Jr., DDS. She was a loving and hardworking mother of her two daughters, Hilary and Amanda.

She was a longtime member of Norwalk Yacht Club and the Roton Point Association. Melinda truly loved her summers in Rowayton, playing tennis, bird watching, volunteering for the Rowayton River Ramble, and attending church services at the United Church of Rowayton.

Her true joy was spending time with her daughters and four grandchildren: Declan, Finley, Saylor, and Tucker who all affectionately referred to her and will always remember her as “Meme.”

She was the most devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Melinda is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Hilary Lee Tracy and Tim Tracy, and Amanda Lee Duggins and Chip Duggins; her four grandchildren: Declan Tracy, Finley Tracy, Saylor Duggins and Tucker Duggins: and her brother and sister, Wilfred Lee and Cynthia Townsend.

A service will be held for Melinda at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at the United Church of Rowayton.
