Maureen Joy (Felicella) Diehl of Trumbull and previously of Darien and Stratford, beloved wife of the late Steven Diehl, passed away Sunday, April 22 at St. Vincent Medical Center. She was 68.

Maureen Diehl, 68, passed away on April 22. Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, and her funeral is on Thursday.

Born Jan. 12, 1950 in Bridgeport, Maureen was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Joy) Felicella and was a lifetime area resident.

Maureen was a retired customer service representative for Virgin Atlantic in Norwalk and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, attending Celtic Thunder concerts and conversing over tea and cake with her closest friends.

A second generation Italian-American, Maureen continued the tradition of the weekly Sunday sauce. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved most of all spending time with her family and two cats, Sadie and Finn.

Maureen was very festive and genuinely loved celebrating all holidays with the utmost enthusiasm. She had a full suite of decorations for every holiday and loved sharing the joy of the season, particularly with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children: Brian Diehl and his wife, Kimberly, of Shelton; Sean Diehl and his wife, Yulia, of Toronto; and Catherine Joy Diehl of Darien; and her three grandchildren: Elizabeth Joy, Marin and Jaclyn Diehl.

Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Maureen did ask that people dress in colors to celebrate her life rather than mourn in black.

Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St. Stratford. Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
