The “JoyFit” contest consists of nutritional coaching, including meal plans and recipes, support and JoyRide boutique fitness classes. The series will run from Jan. 7 to Feb. 4, 2019.

The program is designed and led by registered dietician Ilanit Blumenfeld in all five studios in Connecticut (JoyRide Westport, JoyRide Ridgefield, JoyRide Darien, JoyRide Wilton and JoyX Westport) and two studios in Texas. JoyRide Darien offers indoor cycling and cross-training floor classes,

JoyRide Cycling and Fitness Cycling + Fitness Studio LogoBlumenfeld will develop detailed weekly meal plans based on a low-calorie, high-fiber diet, complete with easy recipes, for four weeks. Participants can also replace meals with others and mix it up.

Participants will also have access to a private Facebook page, monitored by Blumenfeld, for support, advice, tips, and camaraderie around a collective goal of exercising and eating healthy.

Blumenfeld will choose several local, popular restaurants such as Aux Delices, The Granola Bar, Bar Taco and Organika and identify healthy options when ordering in or eating out.

She will conduct confidential weigh-ins to calculate one’s Body Mass Index (BMI) at the beginning and end of the four-week challenge.

“You have to fuel your body with the right nutrients to achieve both your optimal athletic performance and ideal weight goals,” said JoyRide creative director and lead instructor Rhodie Lorenz, who founded JoyRide with Amy Hochhauser, both Westport residents, more than seven years ago.

She believes that food should be functional and serve as fuel throughout the day to maximize healthy weight and energy levels. “Your body is like a car,” she said. “You can’t run on empty.”

“I don’t believe in fad diets — instead I help my clients eat healthier and make long lasting changes that work for them, depending on their particular needs and lifestyle,” said Blumenfeld, a Scarsdale, New York resident.

“I made the weight loss meal plan flexible and the recipes easy to make, because I want everyone to succeed and have fun while doing it, she said. “After the challenge you will realize how easy it is to lose weight and keep it off!”
