John (Jack) Michael Hickson passed away on Dec. 30, 2016. He was 86.

He was born on July 23, 1930 in Stamford to George and Helen Hickson.
Jack grew up in Darien. He graduated from Fairfield Preparatory School in 1948 and went on to attend Fairfield University, where he received a  bachelor’s degree in business administration.

After serving in the U.S. Army he worked for 12 years as a district sales manager for Montgomery Ward and then for 17 years as the treasurer and vice president for business and finance for Fairfield University.

He also managed the properties of his late father in-law John Patrick Oakley, and during semi retirement was self employed providing accounting, business counseling and tax services to small business owners.

Jack married Jacqueline (Jackie) P Oakley in 1955, and they were happily married for 61 years. Jack was an active member in his community and enjoyed volunteering in both his hometown of Rowayton and his retirement community of New Smyrna Beach, Fl.

Jack is survived by his wife Jackie of Port Orange, Fl, his brother George of Darien, his children, Deborah Lynch (Wayne) of Beckley, W.V., Cynthia Fleming of Atlanta GA, Barbara Cline (Jared) of Holly Springs, N.C., John Hickson of New Smyrna Beach, FL., his eight grand children and his 12 great grand children.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Rowayton Hose Company 1, P.O. Box 151, Rowayton, CT 06853 or the Florida Hospital of New Smyrna Beach Auxiliary, 401 Palmetto Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL. 32168.
