James A. Clements (Jim), 87, husband of Sally Gessler Clements, of Naples, Fl., and formerly of Darien, passed away on Oct. 23.
James Clements, 87, passed away on Oct. 23. His funeral took place on Thursday.
Jim was born in Suffern, N.Y. to F. Paul and Adelaide R. Clements on May 11, 1929. He graduated from Suffern High School and then St. Lawrence University. Jim served in the U.S. Army and then worked in the medical publishing field for over 30 years.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol Lightfoot Clements; his sisters-in-law Joanne and Doris; and his stepsons, Freddie and Timmy Appleton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Amy, Tom, and Bill, and his stepchildren Janet and Peter. His brother, Peter, and his brother-in-law, John Lightfoot, also survive him. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren James, Kate, Fisher, Finn, Baxter, Ali, and Vida as well as his great granddaughter Ellie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center (1275 York Avenue New York, NY 10065), The Clements Memorial Garden at St. Lawrence University (c/o St. Lawrence University 23 Romoda Drive Canton, NY 13617) or a charity of your choice .
A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 10, 2016 at Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road, Naples, Fl. with Rev. Dr. Dawson B. Taylor officiating.
