The Undies Project will hold its annual bra drive, called Mardi “Bra,” to coincide with Mardi Gras, to collect donations of new and gently used bras. The drive takes place in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Westport.

— an announcement from the Undies Project

The mission of The Undies Project is to provide new underwear to men, women and children in need to improve their lives. Underwear is the most under-donated, and most needed, item of clothing that many of us take for granted.

They particularly need bras in sizes 34 to 36, so if that\’s your size, please consider looking through your drawers and making a donation.

No one should be deprived of the simple, daily necessity of clean underwear. Hygiene and physical comfort are only a part of this basic human need. New, clean underwear also provides dignity and self esteem.

The Undies Project is a register 501(c)(3) public charity that was started in 2015 by Laura Delaflor and Lucy Langley to fulfill this need. For many underwear is a necessity, not a luxury and for those less fortunate who are on low incomes a bra is a big expense.

All sizes of bras are needed, but in particular sizes 34 to 38.

In Darien, bra donations can be made Saturday, March 2 to Sunday, March 17 at the following participating local businesses:

  • Aux Délices — 25 Old Kings Hwy N, Darien
  • Browne & Co — 865 Post Road
  • Fredric & Company — 1060 Post Road
  • Nielsen’s Florist & Garden Shop — 1405 Post Road
  • YWCA Darien/Norwalk (from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, Monday through Friday) — 45 Old Kings Hwy North

Titan Advisors, an asset management firm based in Stamford, and the Greenwich office of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, both long-time supporters of The Undies Project, are also getting in on the fun and are holding their own in-house Mardi “Bra” drives.

The Undies Project currently serves 22 agencies that help those in need. All donations received will be distributed to these agencies.

If you would like to hold an in-house Mardi “Bra” drive contact The Undies Project at info@theundiesproject.org.
