Greenwich Education Group will host its ninth annual Private Day & Boarding School Fair on Tuesday, May 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich.

The fair is free, open to the public, and serves to acquaint families with top-ranked independent day and boarding schools from throughout the United States and Canada. [Darienite.com editor’s note: The location is about as close as you can get to Darien and still be in Greenwich.]

Families had a chance to meet representatives from dozens of private day and boarding schools at Greenwich Education Group’s secondary school fair in May 2017.

Students  and parents who attend the 2018 Private Day & Boarding School Fair will have the chance to learn about specific schools, connect with admissions officers, and get a leg up on the application process.

Last year, more than 500 prospective students and parents from Fairfield, New Haven, Westchester, and Putnam counties and New York City attended the event.

One parent remarked, “It’s rare to have the opportunity to interact with so many schools at the same time—and especially this close to home! The admissions people were approachable, informative, and eager to speak with us. It was a great evening.”

Victoria Newman and Muffy Fox, Co-Directors of Day and Boarding School Advisory Services at Greenwich Education Group, advise that “choosing the right independent day or boarding school is a decision that can have a lifelong impact. Our Private Day & Boarding School Fair will offer families a convenient and efficient way to compare the offerings of a variety of schools.”

All proceeds from the fair will benefit two local causes:

  • The Town of Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund, which provides low-income families with access to summer camp and sports programs, and
  • REACH Prep, a Stamford-based nonprofit which provides access to transformative educational experiences that empower underserved, high-achieving students to graduate from top colleges and emerge as the next generation of leaders.

“REACH Prep is grateful for the generous pledge of support from Greenwich Education Group,”said Gina Lucas, Chief Executive Officer, REACH Prep. “All funds will help strengthen programming for our scholars, including independent school preparation and placement services, comprehensive academic enrichment, leadership training, and supplementary individual and family guidance.

“These initiatives prepare our students to excel at, and graduate from competitive colleges,” she said. “REACH Prep’s model of providing access to high-quality education in combination with sustained, comprehensive, and long-term support achieves college success rates that defy trends and national statistics. Thank you for supporting our talented students!”
