Learn about great white shark along the Northeast U.S. coast

From 6:30 to 8 p.m., Dr. Tobey Curtis of the National Marine Fisheries Service will speak about “The Comeback of the Great White Shark in Our Backyard” at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich.

Historically, great white sharks were rare off the coasts of New England and seldom encountered. However, the recovery of seal populations and changes in fishery management has allowed sharks to rebound.

In this lecture, Curtis discusses the history of great white sharks in the northwest Atlantic Ocean, and the discovery of a great white nursery off the southern coast of Long Island.

Members and certain students with ID, free (follow the reservations link for details); non-members $15. The Museum is open at 6:20 pm. Reservations required.
