After a bartender at Darien Social refused to serve more alcohol to a 51-year-old Darien woman at about 11:26 p.m. last Thursday, she yelled, swore and got physical, police said.

Darien police gave this account (allegations not proven in court) of the incident at the 10 Center St. bar/restaurant:

When told she was cut off, the woman became irate and yelled profanities at the bartender, along with derogatory names.

Then, in front of others, she reached over the bar and grabbed his shirt. She was told to leave. She refused. Police were called. By the time they arrived, she had left.

Somewhere outside the establishment, on Center Street, police met up with her. She was uncooperative with them and was arrested on a charge of breach of peace and taken to Darien Police Headquarters.

She was released on a promise to appear July 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
