TV Sports broadcast celebrities and professional athletes will partner with Chelsea Piers Connecticut coaches to walk the runway on Wednesday, April 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. in clothes from The Fred Shop in an effort to raise money for the Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund.

Attendees will also enjoy a one-time pop-up shop where they can purchase items worn in the show.   Nikki Glekas Events will provide food and drinks. Noble Salon of Stamford will be creating hairs styles for the models.

“We are so excited to be partnering with Fred on this fundraising event,” commented Greta Wagner, Executive Director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Our coaches are always looking to get more children involved in sports and thought this was a creative way.

“The models in the show are people who have seen firsthand the benefits sports has on children and young adults, whether at the elementary school level or the collegiate and professional level It is a fun way for these local and national celebrities to make a difference.”

The Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund, launched in Connecticut in 2018, is committed to providing Fairfield County children in financial need with the opportunity to experience the enormous benefits and enjoyment of participating in team sports and attending camp.

“We are excited to support the Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund because we believe that giving children access to elite sports programs at Chelsea Piers can have a direct and immediate impact on their lives,” commented Kelley Frey co-owner of The Fred Shop. “It gives them invaluable experience in teamwork and self confidence that very few other experiences provide.”

“Nothing engages children and teaches lifelong skills and lessons like athletics. From introducing hard work to navigating successes and failures with grace, humility and resilience, sports gives kids a platform to exercise leadership and teamwork while building character, confidence and the appreciation for physical fitness,” commented Lisa Kerney, ESPN Sports Center anchor.

“I truly believe commitment to sports – at any and all levels – is vital to continued health and growth both mentally, physically and is good for the soul!  My background in sports has been a remarkable gift, one that my husband and I are committed to sharing with our children, and hope children in our community are able to experience and thrive in well.”

Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund

Over the past five years, Chelsea Piers Connecticut has provided over $400,000 in tuition assistance to competitive team players in financial need.  With the launch of the CPSF in Connecticut, the goal is to offer scholarships to as many qualified applicants as possible.

The Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund (“CPSF”) is committed to providing Fairfield County children in need with the opportunity to experience the enormous benefits and enjoyment of participation in athletics.

CPSF believes structured sports help children gain self-confidence and self-esteem, develop social skills, learn sportsmanship and teamwork, set and achieve goals, and learn from positive role models. CPSF believes that all children, regardless of their family’s financial situation, should be given this opportunity to learn and grow through sports.

The CPSF will continue to work with the Boys and Girls Club, Starfish Connection and other local social service organizations to identify children in Fairfield County who will benefit from participation in sports programs and camps at Chelsea Piers Connecticut.
