Join us to honor the positive impact of our nonprofit grant recipients, the dedication and hard work of our grant review volunteers, and the generosity of our donors that make our grants possible. The Community Fund will be awarding more than $710,000 to Darien, Norwalk, and Stamford nonprofits.
Since 1951, The Community Fund of Darien has granted more than $27 million to local nonprofits which assist neighbors in Darien, Norwalk, and Stamford.
Each July, following a careful evaluation process, The Community Fund awards grants to the area’s most impactful nonprofit organizations that best address The Community Fund’s key areas of impact: basic needs, youth success, workforce development and community health.
The Community Fund of Darien receives more than 50 nonprofit grant applications every year. These applications are evaluated and vetted by The Community Fund’s dedicated team of Community Grant Volunteers and experienced Community Grants Committee.
This year, 83 volunteers contributed 1,500 hours reviewing 31 nonprofits. The volunteers examine each application, assess financial statements, and conduct on-site visits to meet with nonprofit leadership teams.
After thorough application review, teams of community grant volunteers present their findings and grant recommendations to The Community Fund’s Grant Committee. “This careful evaluation and vetting process is crucial in making final, informed funding decisions,” said Janet King, executive director of The Community Fund of Darien.

The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 in the Darien Community Association’s Garden Wing Room, where light bites and refreshments will be catered by Carolyn’s Absolutely Fabulous Events. The awards presentation is scheduled to run from 5 to 5:30 p.m., and a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
