The 15 members of District 2 of the Representative Town Meeting will be holding an informational meeting for residents who live in the district from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 7 in the Louise Parker Berry Community Room at Darien Library.
The purpose of the meeting is to get input from District 2 residents as the Town begins planning for its 2018-19 budget.
Each District 2 RTM member will be prepared to give a brief update on what is happening in their standing committees: Education, Finance & Budget, Parks & Recreation, Planning, Zoning & Housing, Public Health & Safety, Public Works, Rules, Town Government Structure & Administration (TGS&A), Blight, Public Works Garage Building Committee, TV79 Advisory Board.
Then we would like to hear from you. With future state reimbursements to Darien now an annual question mark, 2018-19 promises to be a challenging budget year. We would like to hear your priorities.
There are a number of issues impacting District II such as downtown Darien development, deer hunting, sidewalks and crosswalks, traffic speed along Route 1 from Noroton Ave to Exit 11, the impact of the Pear Tree School closing, blight, and the future of Fitch Academy.
You Live in District 2 If …
- District II is east of I 95, west of Ring’s End Road extending to Rowayton and south of Route 136.
- It includes the neighborhoods of Tokeneke, Delafield Island, Salem Straits, Cedar Gate and Long Neck Point.
- District 2 voters cast their ballots at Town Hall.
If you have any questions, contract District Chair Nina Miller (203-655-9821) or Vice Chair Clara Sartori (203-655-6506).
