For your convenience, P2P donation boxes will be at each of the three polling locations in town (35 Leroy Ave., Noroton Heights Fire Department and Town Hall).

In Fairfield County, nearly 12 percent of our neighbors are struggling with food insecurity. For children, the number is even higher, with one in six not knowing where their next meal is coming from.

Last year, P2P Darien provided clients with groceries for more than 192,000 meals – including families right here in Darien. According to Darien Site Manager Sophie Neumann, this year’s demand is likely to exceed that total.

“Fortunately, because of the generous donations from members of the community, we will be able to meet the need of people who come to us for food,” she said.

Neumann notes that the combination of individual donations and P2P partnerships with local retailers and food banks enables P2P to provide groceries for a full week of meals at an average cost of $35 per person.

“Any non-perishable food donation is most appreciated,” says Neumann, “but the items needed most right now include beans, canned fruit, hot and cold cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, canned vegetables and hearty soups.”P2P election day 2015
