Two girls, ages 9 and 10, reported a suspicious vehicle near Holmes School on Tuesday afternoon, April 5, police said.

As the two girls were walking on Hoyt Street at its intersection with Phillips Lane, a black Subaru with Massachusetts license plates and two males in it stopped at the intersection, the girls told police.

The passenger, a male with wavy blond hair, rolled down his window, stuck his head out and said, “Hey, ladies, did you just get out of school?”

Neither occupant of the vehicle opened a door, and nothing further was said. No one tried to entice the girls to get in the car.

The girls ran on Hoyt Street to its intersection with Middlesex Road and Christie Hill Road, where they told a crossing guard about the matter, and police were contacted.

The black car turned onto Christie Hill Road. Police looked around the area to question the occupants of the vehicle, but never found it. Darien police also contacted other police departments in the area, none of which reported seeing the vehicle.
