Thomas Mark Brayton, beloved husband of Friede Bliss Brayton, passed away on May 17, 2025 at age 82 after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 29, 1942, in Bath, New York, Tom was the son of the late Haswell Potter (Pete) Brayton, Jr. and Dorothy (Dot) Carr Brayton. He grew up in Herkimer, New York, and attended Eaglebrook School, graduated from Phillips Academy and then Princeton University, majoring in classics.
Tom’s career took him from teaching and coaching, to public relations, on to the oil business and then back to teaching.
Tom lived in New Canaan and Darien for the last 50 years. He was a long-time member of the Country Club of New Canaan where he thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis, squash and paddle. He was also a member of the Congregational Church of New Canaan, where he and Friede were married in 1968.
Tom will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his great love of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Tom is survived by Friede, his wife of 56 years’ his elder daughter, Lisa B. Platt, and her husband, Jeff, and his adored grandchildren, Austin and Serena; and his younger daughter, Paige B. Campbell, and her husband, Tom.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
