To the editor,

[Editor’s note: This is a copy of a letter sent to Amy Daniels and Doreen Godfrey of the Tokeneke Parents Association, which organized this past weekend’s Tokeneke Pumpkin Fair.]

On behalf of the Darien Department of Human Services, I wanted to thank you and the Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival Committee for your generous support. The Pumpkin Carnival Committee provided tickets to families in town with admission to the fair, punch cards for rides, and food vouchers for pizza and lemonade. Local children were given the opportunity to enjoy rides, carnival games and pizza at the 53rd Annual Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival. In addition, each of the children received a Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival tee shirt. The joy you brought to these children (and their parents) was priceless!

Here’s an announcement from the organizers:
The Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival is an established favorite fall activity for Fairfield County families, offering something spooky and fun for children both big and small. Every October for over 50 years, the Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival has transformed the Tokeneke Elementary School, located on Old Farm Road in Darien, into a Halloween-themed haunted house and amusement park where kids of all ages can find delicious food, unique games and activities plus a wide variety of mechanical rides. This year, the Pumpkin Carnival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date for the event will be on the following day (Oct. 14).
