Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

Until April 2015, Tricarico was a registered securities broker with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, according to federal court records in an unrelated case. He formerly worked or was associated with various financial firms, including RNT Wealth Management, Northstar Wealth Partners, LPL Financial, and Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network. The woman, now 82, told police on June 21, 2016 that she had loaned Tricarico, her financial advisor, $25,000 to help him start his own financial management company. A promissory note, outlining the terms of the loan, stated that monthly payments to the woman would be made, with the loan entirely repaid by April 26, 2016.
