Interstate 95 Lane Closures Near Darien This Week, Dec 19 to 22

If you’re driving on Interstate 95 into or out of Darien, expect slower traffic at these spots due to bridge inspection work that closes lanes, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced:
Monday

Stamford — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating left and right lane/shoulder closures on I-95 between Exit 7 and 9
Norwalk — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating left and right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 15 and 16

Overnight Monday to Tuesday

Norwalk — 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. — alternating left and right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 13 and 17

Tuesday

Greenwich — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 4 and 6
Norwalk — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating left and right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 15 and 16

Overnight Tuesday to Wednesday

Norwalk — 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. — alternating left and right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 13 and 17

Wednesday

Greenwich — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 4 and 6
Norwalk — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating left and right lane closures on I-95 between Exits 15 and 16

From Greenwich to Westport, Highway Lane Closures Day & Night Starting Monday, Dec 5

Nighttime highway work is already closing lanes on Interstate 95 at various spots between Greenwich and Westport, and for the week starting Monday, Dec. 5 more is on the way for daytime hours, both on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, state officials have announced. Bottom line: In the area surrounding Darien and well beyond it, if you’re driving after 9 p.m. or before 5 p.m., plan for delays on Interstate 95 through Dec. 16. If you’re driving between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on either I-95 or the Merritt, expect delays.

Two Connecticut Department of Transportation bridge maintenance projects will close lanes and slow traffic on Interstate 95 this week — a daytime project in Darien, Norwalk and Wesport and a nighttime project in Greenwich. In Darien and Westport on Thursday
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, alternating left and right lanes will be closed in both the northbound and southbound traffic lanes of I-95, both between Exits 17 and 18 in Westport and between Exits 12 and 14 in Darien and Norwalk. Overnight in Greenwich Through Early Friday Morning
A maintenance project on an Interstate 95 bridge in Greenwich, just before the New York state border, is expected to close some traffic lanes between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday nights this week. A Department of Transportation news release did not specify whether the lanes would be on either the northbound-traffic or southbound-traffic sides. The lane closures began on Monday and are expected to end early Friday morning.

Nighttime Work to Close Some I-95 Lanes in Greenwich, Tuesday Thru Friday

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that a nighttime bridge maintenance project will be performed on I-95 southbound in Greenwich through the morning of Friday, Aug. 12, 2016. Work hours will be 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

The work consists of bridge maintenance on Bridge #00002, the River Avenue overpass, in Greenwich. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on I-95 between Exit 2 (Louden Street), and the New York State Line in Greenwich. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Tuesday through Friday).

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime bridge maintenance project will be performed on I-95 northbound in Stamford beginning Monday, August 1, 2016. The work consists of bridge maintenance on I-91 NB, Bridge #00032 (Metro-North Railroad and local roads) overpass. This project is scheduled to occur from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1 to the morning of Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.

Here’s a partial list of lane closures on highways near Darien on Wednesday and Thursday, as announced by the state Department of Transportation. These lane closures, which can be expected to restrict and slow traffic, are due to bridge inspection work. Other lane closures are often not announced more than hours in advance (on this Web page):

Westport — Merritt Parkway, northbound and southbound — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating right and left lane closures between Exits 40A and 44 (continues Thursday)

Bridgeport — Interstate 95, southbound — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — alternating right and left lane closures between Exits 28 and 25
THURSDAY

Know before you go: Bridge inspection work will close a lanes on the Merritt Parkway in Stamford on Monday and on Interstate 95 in Greenwich on Tuesday. The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced the lane closures on Friday, giving these details:

On Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., travelers on the Merritt Parkway driving on the southbound-traffic side will find the right lane closed between Exits 31 and 34 in Stamford, and on the northbound-traffic side in the same area at the same time. On Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. lanes will be closed on Interstate 95 in Greenwich between Exit 3 and the New York state border on the southbound-traffic side and from 9 a.m. to noon on the northbound-traffic side. These are in addition to overnight road work conducted on area highways that starts anywhere from 7 p.m to 10 p.m. and doesn’t end until just before 6 a.m. The department doesn’t issue a similar report for that work, but it will post very temporary announcements on this Web page. The Connecticut Department of Transportation doesn’t announce it, usually, in news releases, but the department’s “Traffic Incidents” Web page about highway traffic delays shows how much road work is constricting nighttime traffic near Darien. Here’s a list of eight projects going on Wednesday night to 6 a.m. Thursday, from Greenwich to Bridgeport on either the Merritt Parkway or Interstate 95, and it amounts to a pretty typical weeknight for this area (if it went on at any time during the day, more vehicles would be delayed):

Here are three announcements this morning which appear to be overlapping:
