A 15-year-old Darien boy who punched a UPS driver, 37, as the man was delivering items in the front of Holmes School has been charged after police got approval for an arrest warrant. The boy was charged recently with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault in connection with the March 10 incident. The warrants were served last week, and he was scheduled to appear in juvenile court in Stamford. Police previously described the incident in which they said the UPS driver passed the boy and another boy at Hollow Tree Ridge Road and Hanson Road, where the two boys yelled profanities at him. Soon afterward, when he had parked his truck, the 15-year-old approached him and began arguing with him, then punched him.

Darien police are investigating an incident in which they say a 15-year-old Darien boy punched a UPS driver who was making a delivery near Holmes School. Police gave this account, none of which is proven in court, and no charges have been filed:

Police were called to the front of Holmes School at 2:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 on the report of breach of peace involving juveniles. The delivery driver told police he first passed by two boys near the intersection of Hollow Tree Ridge Road and Hanson Road. He said the two yelled profanities at him and he heard what sounded like something hitting his truck. Later, when he was making a delivery on Hoyt Street and had his car parked near Holmes School (at 18 Hoyt St.), he saw the same two boys on the sidewalk walking toward him.
