Private Spat, Public Physical Struggle, Police Issue Summonses

A man and a woman who either live with each other or are in a relationship got into a public struggle Wednesday morning when one tried to retrieve a phone the other person had. Both were charged with breach of peace; no one was reported injured. The Darien police description of the incident followed state law in not giving any identifying information about the two. The police account identified neither of them  as a juvenile or said either was sent to juvenile court, so we can assume they were a man and a woman. Darien Police: Two Domestic Disturbances Result in Arrests

Two unrelated domestic disturbances recently resulted in charges for town residents. Darien police gave out these details:

A 56-year-old Darien man was charged with violating a protective order when he knocked several items off of a counter in anger when the victim refused to talk to him about selling the house. The victim also told police that the man had done several other minor things in order to cause annoyance. The man was arrested and later released on a $10,000 bond. Based on the investigation, officers placed McGovern under arrest for violation of the protective order.

Police: Man, 26, Smashes Sister’s TV in Domestic Dispute

A 26-year-old Darien man in an argument with his sister deliberately broke the television set of his sister and texted her a photo of the broken set, police said. Darien police described the incident with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

On Friday, June 30, the brother and sister, who both live at a home on Allen O’Neill Drive, communicated through text messages as they argued about who would drive their mother from work. The man was at home, his sister wasn’t. The sister later showed police a text message from her brother that said,“Looks like you’re getting a new TV then,” with a picture of the television with a broken screen. The sister went to police and showed them the text and photo.
