Police Traffic Advisory for Sunday’s Darien Road Race
|
Sunday afternoon’s Darien Road Race, a fundraiser for the Community Fund of Darien, will restrict traffic on some roads around town. Here’s how Darien Police Department describes what will happen, from a department announcement earlier this week:
The 38th annual Darien Road Race will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. The road race, hosting approximately 500 racers, will start at Pear Tree Point Beach and proceed to Long Neck Point Road, Goodwives River Road, Sunswyck Road, Red Coat Pass, Delafield Island Road, west on Old Kings Highway South, to Goodwives River Road, and back to Pear Tree Point Beach. Motorists and residents of the area are advised to expect short-term delays and detours along the race route. Darien Police personnel will be positioned along the route to facilitate the flow of traffic and the safety of the runners.
