One Restaurant Gets Worst Rating — ‘C’ — in Latest Health Inspection Reports

One Darien restaurant received a “C” rating, the worst in the town A-B-C ratings system, in the latest health inspection reports released by the town Health Department. —Center Street Public House — 22  Center St.— March 4 — Town Rating: A — State Score: 95

—Duchess Family Restaurant — 306 Post Road — March 4 — Town Rating: B — State Score: 94

—Heights Pizza — 330 Heights Road — March 4 — Town Rating: C — State Score: 78 — Inspector’s Remarks: “Meatballs: 124 degrees (reheated); garlic in oil at 54.3 degrees, sliced mozzarella cheese at 50 to 53 degrees (both discarded); no thermometer in pizza  bain marie; lights not shielded in kitchen; hands not washed after coming inside after doing trash; large bottle in back hand sink; chemical spray bottle on shelf next to food bottles; non-food-grade containers used for food; torn gasket on refrigerator across from cook line; shelves lined with foil/cardboard; vents dusty on ceiling.”

Two Darien food-serving establishments got a “C” rating, the worst in the town A-B-C ratings system, in the latest health inspection reports released by the town Health Department. Three other establishments were rated “A”, and two “B.” Update, 11:02 a.m.: In addition to the inspections just referred to, Blue Wave Taco was just reinspected on Feb. 22 and received an “A” (more information below). The inspection occurred just as Darienite.com received reports from the department and wasn’t included in the weekly batch.

Latest Health Inspection Results from Darien Schools and Food-Serving Establishments

Health inspection ratings ranged from good to fair in the latest town Health Department reports for three more Darien school cafeterias and three food-serving establishments in town. All public school cafeterias in town have been inspected, with none getting below an “A” rating, the best in the town’s A-B-C ratings system (full details from each school cafeteria are shown below). Three Darien food-serving establishments received a grade of “C,” the lowest of the three A-B-C town Health Department ratings, among the 11 most recently released health inspections.
