Three new ambulances have been added to Darien EMS-Post 53’s fleet thanks to the generosity of the McGraw and Ziegler families of Darien and the Friends of Post. The ambulances, featuring the latest in safety and technology, were launched at a ceremony on Sept. 23. — an announcement from Darien EMS-Post 53

The launch ceremony included members of the McGraw family, as well as local dignitaries. The ambulances were officially “christened” by the families and town representatives with saline solution from IV bags.

Darien EMS-Post 53 Appoints New Executive Director, First Paid One

Darien EMS-Post 53 announced that Joe Larcheveque has been named executive director, effective Oct. 1, replacing Nancy Herling. 
Larcheveque is the ninth person to serve as director in the 48-year history of Post 53 and the first paid executive director of the volunteer ambulance service. Experience in EMS Work and Elsewhere
He comes to Post 53 from Stamford EMS, where he has been deputy chief and director of training for more than 25 years, since that organization was founded in a reorganization of Stamford’s ambulance services. He has also served as Post 53’s clinical advisor for quality assurance and training since 1995. Larcheveque was welcomed to Post 53 by Jay Wood, chairman of the Board and additional board members at a ceremony on Sept.

On behalf of all the young adults and adult advisors of Darien EMS – Post 53, we would like to thank everyone who attended our 30th Memorial Day Food Fair at Tilley Pond Park, supporting us and the work we do in the community. 
Your participation helped make this annual Darien community celebration a great success!  Each year we enjoy hosting the Food Fair which brings together the community in fun, while honoring our service men and women on Memorial Day. Thank you to the Town of Darien for the use of Tilley Pond Park, and to the Darien Police Department and Darien Parks and Recreation for their help. Thank you to the parents of the young adults of Post 53 who are a huge help before and during the Fair. We also thank the many Darien businesses who donated food and other services for our event, most especially Palmer’s Market, Fisherman’s Net, The Goose, Michael Joseph’s, The Boatyard at Smokey Joe’s BBQ, Expresso Neat, Finocchio Bros. Inc., Mermaid Pool Water, and Ring’s End.
