A man who said he was hit in the back of his head while on a late night train was taken to Stamford Hospital last week, and a Fairfield man who said he hit him was arrested, Darien police said. A misdemeanor assault charge against the Fairfield man has been filed by MTA police because the incident occurred on a train. Darien police, who spoke to both men and then turned the matter over to MTA police, gave this account of what they were told, including accusations that have not been proven in court (additional information was given by the MTA, as noted below):

Darien police were called to Darien Railroad Station at 12:17 a.m., Wednesday, May 30. A man, who was not otherwise identified, told them that while he was on the train, he had been punched in the back of the head without any warning, and he didn’t know why that had happened. He was treated by Darien EMS-Post 53 at the scene, then taken to Stamford Hospital. The other man was later identified by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority as Charles Alesi, 39, of Fairfield (no street address given).
