Police: Darien Man, 21, Arrested After Video of Uber Driver’s Assault Goes Online

A 21-year-old Darien man has been arrested after assaulting an Uber driver who had dropped him off on Tulip Tree Lane on Friday night, Aug. 27, police said. “The Uber driver received minor injuries, for which he was later taken to a hospital, Darien police said. This video of the incident, recorded from within the car, was released and appeared on News 12. It shows the driver being punched and pleading with the man assaulting him:”

Shandaken Ford, who lives on the Post Road in the area between its intersections with Nearwater Lane and Beach Drive, was the first of two passengers being driven in an Uber car.

Police Ask Public for Info on Post-Midnight Assault on Two Females by Unknown Male in DHS Parking Lot

An unknown male struck two females standing by their vehicle in a Darien High School parking lot at about 12:10 a.m., Wednesday, then fled on foot, Darien police were told. The two women or girls received minor injuries and were treated at Stamford Hospital. Two acquaintances of the victims each told an officer that they saw the incident, which police say “appears to be a random and isolated incident.” Police said that an officer arrived at the scene in “less than 60 seconds but was unable to locate a suspect. […] A thorough search of the area, including the use of a tracking K-9, was conducted, but no suspect was located.”
