Sandra Lovegrove, a longtime Darien resident, passed away surrounded by family on May 1, 2025. She was 88.

Sandra Lovegrove, 88, passed away on May 1. Her funeral service was private.
She was born in Jamaica, Queens on April 17, 1937, to James Libby Littlefield and Edna (Berggren) Littlefield.
Sandra was raised in Floral Park, New York, went to Sewanhaka High School and summered in York Beach, Maine. As a teenager she worked at The Goldenrod in York Beach, tending the soda fountain and selling boxes of their famous candies.
She graduated from the University of Michigan (Alpha Delta Phi Sorority) where she received a nursing degree. While returning a loaned medical book from a classmate she was introduced to Robert, who she married and remained with for the next 63 years.
They moved to Connecticut in 1966 and raised their four boys in Darien. She was a member of the Wee Burn Country Club and the Darien Boat Club. Her interests were many and included skeet shooting (Remington Gun Club at Lordship Point), golfing, tennis, weight lifting and photography.
She loved skiing at Stratton Mountain in Vermont where her family kept a home for over 40 years. Her true passion was Tai Chi Chuan. She proudly studied under Great Grandmaster William CC Chen in New York City. Over time she advanced to become one of his trusted instructors.
She is predeceased by her husband, Robert; sister, Brenda Spooner; and daughter-in-law, Valerie (Andrew). She is survived by her four sons: Craig (Tory), Brian (Sally), Daniel, and Andrew; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bradley Littlefield of Sequim, Washington. She leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Services will be private. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
