A Lillian Terrace resident told police he mailed a check using his mailbox in February but recently noticed that the check had been altered before it was cashed.
The victim said the check, mailed on Feb. 23, was cashed for a different amount and that the name of the payee had been changed.
He reported the matter to police on Tuesday, April 28. Lillian Terrace is a very short street off of Maple Street in Noroton.
