Darien police reported nine vehicles parked outside eight homes in town were recently entered overnight, most of them from Tuesday to Wednesday, Jan. 19 to 20. Various items were taken from several of them.
As usual, all of them were unlocked.
Reported stolen were a “portable electronic device” valued at $100, a pair of prescription sunglasses, another pair of sunglasses, $80 in cash, a phone charger. The vehicle entries and thefts occurred on Laforge Road, McLaren Road, Wakemore Street, Jackson Place, Fairfield Avenue and Ridgefield Avenue.

Jan. 16 to 17 — LaForge Road
Sometime overnight from that Sunday to Monday the owner of a 2005 Mercedes heard his car alarm go off and saw someone rummaging through the vehicle (police didn’t say when that happened, but they received the report at 6:58 a.m., that Monday). By the time he got outside, the suspect was gone, but nothing seemed to be missing.
Jan. 19 to 20
A woman called police at 3:52 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, and told them her Ring brand camera showed someone rummaging through her 2021 Lincoln. Nothing appeared to be missing. Police looked around the area but didn’t find anyone suspicious.
Two vehicles parked outside a home were entered. A resident told police that a pair of sunglasses and a phone charger were missing from one of them.
A pair of prescription sunglasses was missing from a 2018 Mazda parked outside another house on the street.
A total of $80 in cash was missing from a 2012 Jeep outside one home on the street.
A 2016 Volkswagen and a 2017 Volkswagen parked outside another home were entered, and items were strewn about inside both vehicles. Nothing appeared to be missing.
A 2020 Mazda was entered and a portable electronic device valued at $100 was taken.
Jan. 20 to 21
Overnight from that Thursday to Friday, A 2020 Kia was entered and items were found strewn around inside the vehicle. Nothing appeared to be missing.
