Police didn’t catch two people they saw in a late-night trespassing incident at Middlesex Middle School on Nov. 27, but video images of two teenagers have resulted in both of them now being charged with trespassing.
Darien police gave this account of the incident and investigation, including accusations not proven in court:
At 11:32 p.m., on Nov. 27, the Friday after Thanksgiving, a burglar alarm alerted police, who went to the scene and, through a second-floor window, saw two suspects in the building. The two walked down a hall and out of sight.
Officers checked the building and the area, but the two had escaped. While checking, police found a broken window in a ground-floor classroom.
Video images of two males were later released to the public, resulting in numerous tips, which then resulted in police interviewing two suspects: Charles Gedney, 19, of Middlesex Road and Aiden Hills, 18, of Edgerton Street.
Both teens admitted to police that they had been in the building that night, so police applied for and received arrest warrants charging each of them with second-degree criminal trespassing.
On Saturday, March 20 Hills turned himself in, and Gedney did so the next day. Each was released on a promise to appear April 20 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
