Patricia Wilson Scott passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2016, in Naples, Fla. She was 84.

Patty will be remembered by her friends and family for her genuine interest in other people, her sense of optimism and fairness, her wonderful laugh and sense of humor, her passion for racquet sports, international travel, entertaining, and her love of her extended family.

ObitBorn to Fredrick and Ruth Wilson in Bronxville, New York on Feb. 1, 1932, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John M. Scott, and first husband, Stanley R. Westberg. She was the granddaughter of Jacob Sechler Coxey of Massillon, Ohio.

Patty was a resident of Naples, Fla. since 1985, Chagrin Falls, Ohio since 1963 and Darien since 1938. She graduated from Greenwich Academy in 1949 and Mount Holyoke College in 1953, where she majored in political science. Patricia was also a 1954 graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in New York City.

She worked at the Time Inc.’s new publication, Sports Illustrated, beginning in August of 1954 in New York City and then Detroit, around the time she met her husband, Stanley R. Westberg of East Longmeadow, Mass.

Patty had a successful business career as a real estate agent and she also was office Manager for Thomas Reap Realty in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She was an active leader in numerous cultural and social charities, most recently the Port Royal Trinity by the Cove Episcopal Church’s Antique Show.

She is survived by her sister, Martha W. Williams, who resides in Chappaqua, N.Y.; her son, William W. Westberg and his ex-wife, Abigail S. Anderson, who reside in Pittsburgh; her son, Eric S. Westberg and his wife, Rebecca Sullivan, his ex-wife, Deborah Dewey, who all reside in Seattle; her step-sons, John M. Scott, III and his wife, Deborah, who reside in London; Andy Scott and his wife, Stacey, who reside in San Francisco; and her nine grandchildren — Owen Westberg, Meris Westberg, Nicholas Westberg, Natalie Westberg, Olivia Scott, Isabella Scott, Jack Scott, Audrey Scott and Nathan Scott.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 1495 Smith Preserve Way, Naples, FL 34102 or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Patty’s life is scheduled for family and friends in early February 2017.
