New Darien Police Officer Katrina Cook graduated Monday morning from Stamford Police Academy, placing at the top of her class.
Cook also won the Samuel J. Luciano Award, issued by the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association to the recruit in each police academy class who achieves the highest cumulative grade point average during basic training.
Cook went through six months of “rigorous basic training,” the Police Department announced Monday afternoon. Starting Tuesday, Cook will start her probationary employment period and get several months of comprehensive field training.
“Congratulations to Ofc. Cook on her tremendous accomplishment and welcome aboard!” the announcement said.
