This inclusive event promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring giveaways, crafts, and even puppies from a local shelter who need a good home. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy delectable offerings from various food trucks that will be serving up a diverse range of culinary delights.
Entertainment will include music, courtesy of local DJ Andrew Singer, and a drag performance by DHS graduate Boxa Crayonz.
Darien Pride Chair Dan Guller said his committee is excited to be bringing this celebration back to Darien. “Last year was the first time we had this kind of celebration and we drew over 600 people.
With the LGBTQ+ community under fire across the country, we need this reminder of how open and accepting Darien is, which is why we chose the theme of ‘You Belong.’ We wanted to make sure everyone, especially our LGBTQ+ youth, knows that their hometown welcomes them.”
In addition to the lively entertainment, the Darien Pride Celebration will also feature local dignitaries sharing their experiences and the importance and benefits of living in a diverse community.
First Selectman McNally will issue a proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Darien, further reinforcing the town’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all its residents.
The Darien Pride Committee extends a warm invitation to the entire community and encourages residents, allies, and supporters to come together at Tilley Pond Park on June 11 to join in the festivities. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or simply believe in equality, the Darien Pride Celebration welcomes you with open arms.
