Jennifer Geddes obit

Jennifer Geddes, 78, passed away on April 26. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Jennifer was born on Nov. 1, 1942 in Philadelphia to the late David S. and Marion Moore.

She graduated Darien High School, Class of 1960, and the Stamford Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. After brief rotations in the ER and OR, she found her forever home in Labor & Delivery. Having retired once but finding retired life not rewarding enough, she returned to Labor & Delivery part-time and was still employed at the time of her death.

She was a tireless volunteer in the Darien community and served on several boards and commissions, most recently the Darien Domestic Abuse Council, Commission on Aging and the Advisory Board of Health.

She belonged to the Sacred Heart Church Rosary Altar Society, was a member of the Kiwanis and Lions Clubs, as well as a longtime member of the Darien Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Jennifer is predeceased by her husband Irving S. “Lefty” Geddes Jr.

She is survived by her children: Elizaberh Kaskey (Steve) of Richmond, Virginia; Laura Hyatt (Alan) of Darien, and son Michael Geddes of Hot Springs, Montana; five grandchildren: Sara and Claire Kaskey; Alan, Emily and Reagan Hyatt and a sister Dr. Suzanne M. Shepherd of Philadelphia.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date. Should friends desire, a memorial contribution may be made to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Stamford or a charity of your choice.
