Howard Rucker, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21 at Stamford Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1933 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Mamie Wansley Rucker and Bishop Rucker. Mr. Rucker was predeceased by his wife Anne Bryant Rucker.
He retired from the Department of Public Works of Darien after numerous years of service.
His memory will be cherished by two daughters; Essie Ruffin and Vanessa Davis, one son; Kenneth Smith (Sandra), a devoted companion; Cora Nichols and a host of grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a service of celebration at 11 a.m. at Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, 27 Baxter Ave., Stamford, with Rev. Johnny C. Bush officiating. Interment will be private. Services entrusted to Downer Funeral Home.
