The 29th annual Hackers For Hope event will be held on Friday evening, Sept. 29 at Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton.

Hackers For Hope, which was started by cancer survivors and Darienites Al Smith and Tim Brown, supports cancer research and treatment programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Bennett Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical Center, and the Cannonball Kids Cancer Foundation.

Over the years, Hackers For Hope has raised close to $15 million.

Twenty-three golfers play from dawn to dusk on September 29th and friends, family and colleagues sponsor them. When the weather cooperates, many are able to play over 100 holes of golf.

This year’s golfers include local residents; Dean Bellissimo, Tom Carey, Brian Ceglarski, George Craft, Bobby Croswell, Ryan Garrity, Anne Harvey, Whitney Lancaster, John Novak, John Pontious, Harris Swenson, and Bridget Wren. The event will be a cocktail party format with an open bar and hors d’oeuvre buffet. This year, the event has a corporate sponsor – Pure Insurance.
