Darien Library and Penguin Random House Audio will host “NOW HEAR THIS: Growl, Moan, Hiccup And Other Tales from the Audiobook Studio” for an evening of entertainment designed to delight audiobook fans.

The program will feature a conversation between a Grammy Award-winning producer and two celebrated narrators – plus, a behind-the-scenes look at the audio industry, narrator readings, and audience Q&A.

And, attendees are eligible for a door prize! The event takes place on Thursday, April 6 from 7 to 8 pm at Darien Library.

As more people are discovering the art of storytelling through audiobooks, many are turning to their library to provide them with a wide array of genres and listening formats. In fact, audiobooks are the fastest growing segment in the publishing world. Whether in the car, at home, running errands, or at the gym, you will find people tuning in to hear works by their favorite authors and narrators. Darien Library is proud to offer more than 5,000 physical audiobooks and 30,000 e-audiobooks in their growing collection.

About the Presenters

* Michael Crouch is a New York-based actor specializing in voice-over. His credits span a variety of genres, including national commercials, animated series, promos, video games, and audiobooks. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.

* January LaVoy is a stage, television, and voice actress. She performed on Broadway in Enron and on television in One Life to Live, All My Children, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, and Guiding Light.

* Cheryl Herman is the Marketing Director for Books on Tape & Listening Library, audio imprints of Penguin Random House. For 16 years, Cheryl has been working with librarians and educators to help raise awareness for audiobooks and promote the benefits of listening. She launched the Guys Listen initiative (2009), which helps motivate guys to become lifelong readers as well as two important diversity campaigns Hear Diversity (2014) and Read Proud Listen Proud (2015).

* Dan Zitt, Vice President of Content Production for the Penguin Random House Audio Publishing Dan has been the creative catalyst for over two thousand audio productions, collaborating with bestselling authors, notable celebrities, and award-winning narrators. Sixteen of his recordings have been nominated for Grammy Awards, with former President Bill Clinton’s autobiography, My Life, winning the award for Best Spoken Word Album. He is also the creator of Ahab.us, a casting website launched in 2015. He currently leads a bi-coastal production team that produces over 1100 audiobooks a year.
