How to Respond to an Overdose: Narcan Information and Training

April 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Opioid related overdose deaths in Connecticut have grown at four times the national average since 2012. Narcan (naloxone) is an opiate antidote. It blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose.

Trained individuals are allowed to possess and administer Narcan to a person having an overdose. Come to Darien Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4 for “How to Respond to an Overdose: Narcan Information and Training.”

The training session will have a demonstration on how to acquire and administer Narcan.

— This article is based on information from announcements from both Darien Library and the Community Fund of Darien.

Legislative efforts and other resources to combat the opioid crisis will be discussed. Free Narcan kits will be distributed to the first 30 attendees courtesy of Silver Hill Hospital, as part of the State Targeted Response Grant.

  • There is a 30 person maximum for free Narcan kits, so please register online here to reserve your space.
