The funeral for Dorothy Ritt, 88, was on Tuesday.

Ann was born on Oct. 12, 1927 in Baltimore, the fifth child of Mr. John A. Wintz and Mrs. Margaret M. Wintz. She graduated from Institute of Notre Dame, where she was the winner of the prestigious IND medal for excellence in academics and athletics.

She studied finance at Notre Dame of Maryland University. Ann Wintz married Paul Ritt on Dec. 30, 1950 in Baltimore, embarking on a 65 year-journey, with stops in Vienna and Fairfax, Va., Bethesda, Md.; Darien; Weston, Mass. and finally Wayland, Mass.

Ann was the fiercely proud mother of six, grandmother of 15, and great-grandmother of two. After being an accomplished basketball player in high school, she became a devoted Celtics fan. However, nothing could match the support that she showed first for her children and then her grandchildren.
