Diane Knisel passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017, surrounded by her family.

ObitShe was born in Clifton, N.J. on April, 10, 1933 to Ralph and Marie Taylor. She graduated from Butler High School in 1951, Sherwood Secretarial School in 1952, and later attended the Barbizon School of Modeling.

Diane married Russell H. Knisel in 1955. Diane and Russ lived most of their lives in Darien, where they raised their four children. Diane was very active in her community, volunteering for Stamford Hospital, the Darien Community Association, and the American Cancer Society.

She loved to travel and accompanied Russ on many business and leisure trips around the world. An avid golfer, Diane was a longtime member of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, River Highlands in Cromwell  and the Indian River Club of Vero Beach, Fl. Diane also loved movies and enjoyed her talent as a watercolor artist.

She is survived by daughters: Susan M. Slabicki of Norwalk, Kimberly E. Frankel (William) of Charleston, SC, and Sally T. Knisel (Sarah) of Vernon; her son, Russell H. Knisel, Jr. (Stacy) of Simsbury; her sister, Candy Fontana of Santa Cruz, Ca., and grandchildren Nicole Kane (John), Rachel Slabicki, Max Frankel, Colton Frankel, Josh Frankel, Nick Knisel, Kelly Knisel, Tanner Nascimbeni, and Halie Nascimbeni.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Joan Bodin and Gail Duffy, and son-in-law David Slabicki.

A private prayer service will be held at Holmes Funeral Home in Manchester.
