The Darien Police Commission and Police Chief Ray Osborne are pleased to announce the promotion of the following three officers who were selected for their respective positions on Wednesday, May 29:

Sgt. Nick Aranzullo was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Aranzullo started with the department in 2005.
In 2009, Aranzullo assisted with the implementation of the K-9 program, ultimately forming the department’s first K-9 unit with K-9 partner “Zulu.”
Aranzullo served in the Detective Bureau and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2017.
Officer Derek Mulcahy was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Mulcahy started with the department in 2004 and later became a member of the department’s Marine Division.
For the past several years he has been the commander of the Marine Division, notably managing the acquisition of the department’s new Safeboat.
Mulcahy was recently assigned to the Traffic Division, and he is a member of the department’s Accident Investigation Team.
Officer Daniel Skoumbros was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Skoumbros has been with the department since 2004.
He is a member of the department’s Crisis Intervention Team and has served as a member of the Marine Division for the past several years.
Skoumbros has served as the school liason officer to Ox Ridge School since the program’s inception and is a certified telecommunications officer.
The promotions will officially take effect on Sunday, June 2. A promotional ceremony will take place in the very near future on a date to be announced.
