Dale Richard Albright of Darien, beloved husband of Dorothy Sterns Albright for 30 years and the late Joan Albright, passed away on Thursday, June 20, at home. He was 89.

Dale was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1934, to the late Paul and Dorothy (Shoemaker) Albright. He grew up and attended schools in Wilson Borough, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Wilson Borough High School in 1952 and was class president, student director of the band, and a member of the National Honor Society.
Dale received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, and was actively involved in the Glee Club. Upon graduation, Dale was employed for 17 years at the Chemicals and Plastics Division of Union Carbide Corporation (formerly the Bakelite Co.) in Bound Brook, New Jersey.
Beginning in 1973 he was employed as plant manager with Penick Corporation, A unit of CPC International. He continued as vice president with Penco of Lyndhurst Inc., the successor to Penick Corporation. In 1988, he joined Eastern Steel Barrel Corporation in Piscataway, New Jersey, as operations manager. From 1991 to 1993, Dale held the position of senior vice president of Vectre Corporation, a privately-owned environmental consulting company in Lafayette, New Jersey. From 1993 until his retirement in 1996 he was president of DRA Associates Inc., a company specializing in environmental and management services to businesses.
Dale was an avid sailor. His favorite moments were at the helm, captaining his beloved boat, “Apres Ski.” He was a gourmet chef, loved to travel and, in his later years, enjoyed learning Italian.
He will be remembered for his active community service throughout the Somerset County community. He was also past vice chairman of the Industrial Division, Newark Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Central New Jersey Lafayette College Alumni Club.
He directed the choir of the Presbyterian Church at Pluckemin, New Jersey, from 1958 to 1968. He served on the board of directors of the Somerset Chaplaincy to the Elderly from 1998 to 2003. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church at Pluckemin and was ruling elder and clerk of session as well as a member of the choir.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Dale is survived by his son, Dale R. Albright, Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Theresa; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Stephanie. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Emily Broeman Farnum; her husband, Henry Whipple Farnum IV, and their children, Henry V, Hayden and Libby.
He resided in Bridgewater and Bedminster, New Jersey, from 1959 to 2024 and moved to Darien in 2024.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 12 noon, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, 79 U.S. Route 202 #206, Pluckemin, New Jersey. Interment will be private.
