Carole R. Coviello passed away on Jan. 17, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital with her husband of 56 years, Phil, and her daughter, Sarah, and son, David, at her side. She was 79.

Carole Coviello, 79, passed away on Jan. 17. Celebrations of her life will be held in Florida and New Mexico later this year.
Carole was born in Stamford on June 25, 1944 to Henry and Pauline Robertson. They, along with her older brother, Doug, lived in various places in both the United States and abroad, including New Delhi, India and Kobe, Japan. She graduated from The Chatham Hall School in Danville, Virginia and the Columbia University School of Nursing.
After obtaining her R.N. license and subsequent marriage to Phil in 1967, she worked as a nurse in the Labor & Delivery Rooms at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City, ultimately becoming the Head Nurse in that department.
She retired in 1971 upon the birth of her first child, living in New York City, Ridgewood, New Jersey and, for over 30 years, New Canaan, where she was active in several local organizations, most notably the New Canaan Society for the Arts, of which she was president for several years.
From 2000 to 2003, Carole and Phil lived in London and Milan where he was working. Upon her husband’s retirement at the end of 2003, they split their time between New Canaan and a house that Carole had co-designed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Carole was an avid needle pointer and knitter and did so frequently for charitable purposes. She also was a tennis player at The Lake Club in New Canaan and The Country Club of Darien. She later switched to playing golf at the Country Club of Darien and The Club at Las Campanas in Santa Fe.
She and her husband moved to The Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach in 2007, becoming full-time residents there in 2020.
Carole loved to travel the world with her friends and then also with her husband after his retirement in 2003. She had visited places in virtually every continent until health issues precluded foreign travel after 2019. Carole was a wonderful wife, mother and friend, and will be missed.
She is survived by her husband and two children, plus four grandchildren. The family plans to hold celebrations of her life later this year in both Vero Beach and Santa Fe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Foundation to support the expansion of the Emergency Room.
