Police say they’re looking for a silver 2004 BMW M3 reported stolen last week from a West Avenue driveway.

The car went missing from 281 West Ave. some time between 9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.

Its owner, a 42-year-old Darien woman, said she’d locked the car and all keys were in her possession, the report said. Police found no glass or other evidence on scene that may have indicated forced entry to the car, the report said.

The complainant told police she’d contacted her dealership in Georgia in hopes that they might be able to track the car, but that they could not, the report said.

Sgt. Jeremiah Marron of the Darien Police Department said the fact that the vehicle hasn’t turned up yet—say, a car broken into by home burglars seeking to get out of town fast, and then dump—may indicate that a criminal had been targeting this BMW specifically.

Police are investigating.
