LiveGirl, a co-sponsor of the exhibit, also will host a “celebratory event” outside the Carriage Barn on Friday, June 4. “Family Fun Friday” is a “celebration of female power and the arts” featuring carnival games, an art scavenger hunt, cocktails, Flaco’s Taco Truck, Darien artist/activist TL Duryea “completing a masterpiece,” live music by Melissa Wasserman.

Family Fun Friday runs from 5 to 7 p.m., June 4. Tickets are $25 and available here, on the LiveGirl website. The first 50 registrants will be entered into a raffle to win an Ashley Longshore gift bag.

The fourth annual exhibit, a partnership between LiveGirl and the arts center features artwork by Duryea, pop artist phenomenon Ashley Longshore and contemporary artist Michele Voight. The exhibit will run through June 5.

LiveGirl Founder and CEO Sheri West said the exhibit and event “give a platform to female artists and give voice to the movement of unstoppable young women rising up today for social change.” She said the benefit will make possible LiveGirl’s free leadership development and mentoring programs for girls in Grade 5 through college.

“The selected pieces reflect many interpretations of female power and celebrate LiveGirl’s mission to building confident, inclusive leaders,” said Hilary Wittman, executive director of The Carriage Barn Arts Center.

Ashley Prymas, Founder of Plucky, co-curated the exhibit, said: “These talented artists harness the idea of female power through various media — from pure abstraction to images of recent protests to pop art and beyond.”
