RAC’s “En Plein Air” Painting Competition is an annual event aimed at getting artists of all ages outside painting the gorgeous outdoor scenes that define the town of Rowayton.
It kicks off June 8 at 8 a.m. at the RAC gallery where artists will register (there is a $15 fee) and choose their location. Artists will have a few hours to paint before returning their artwork back to RAC by 12 noon.
There will be a reception at 2 pm with live music and refreshments. Paintings will be for sale and awards will be given in adult and youth categories (under 16 years of age). The judge for the competition Kathy Draper. Artists are welcome to borrow easels from RAC but must have their own supplies. Any artwork not painted on canvas, must be adhered to a solid surface appropriate for hanging. Completed artwork should be no larger than 20” in any direction.
