The Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) has two painting en plein air (translated as “outdoors” from French) events in June. An adult workshop is planned Saturday, June 1 with instructor Anda Styler from 2 to 6 p.m. plus a competition will take place the following Saturday, June 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m, with a reception at 2 p.m.
The workshop “Painting En Plein Air” on Saturday, June 1 will focus on light, shadow, composition, and how to capture the local landscape without being totally overwhelmed.
There will be a quick 20 minute demo at a painting location that will be announced soon in the RAC vicinity. Instructor Anda Styler lives in Sherman and attended Parsons School of Design.
She has had many accomplishments as a painter such as numerous awards and interviews in publications, including American Art Collector and Country Gardeners Magazine. There is a supply list for the class posted online.
